I accepted a project from a Hawaiian landowner on Molokai. This was early in my career and I went in to the project without knowing how to be a commercial landscape photographer. Instead of nurturing a strong client relationship, I ended up creating a deep connection and friendship.

Over the course of a week, he and I scaled, rock-crawled and hiked all over his expansive property that extended from the ocean all the way to the top of Molokai. It was a grueling good time and we even hunted some axis deer when the opportunity jumped at us.

This morning watching the sunrise over Maui was magical. Not only because of the light but because we were both happy. It took the entire night to get here and, just like the rest of the days on assignment, it was filled with joyful exertion.

I learned a lot about Molokai and parted ways with a now-close friend. A few months later, I received a call from my client’s son. He thanked me for the great adventure I took his father on and then informed me that his father died from pancreatic cancer. He regarded our trip as his last great adventure.

About the editions: I print on a premium substrate that is unparalleled in depth and luminosity. The material refracts light in such a way that light travels laterally through the paper as well as reflects to the audience creating a brilliant effect that many mistake to be rear illumination. Each print is then face mounted to acrylic and sandwiched to a protective backing. The artwork is then framed or a recessed mount is added to the back to float on the wall. I offer many framing options on this website or you can collect the artwork and have it framed at your preferred framer. More arrangements are available. Liners are available in Black, White, Beige.
