A note from the artist
A story of ancient presence and peaceful isolation
There are landscapes that feel like more than just earth and stone.
They feel like memory.
When I first encountered this boulder formation, I was struck by its weight—not just physical, but emotional. It stood, fractured yet unified, like the remnants of something immense. The deep split down its center looked like an old scar. The surrounding stones felt like fallen pieces, weathered by time, resting together in quiet companionship.
It didn’t take long for the title to surface: Fallen Titan.
To me, this image carries the presence of an ancient being—a god, perhaps, whose bones have settled into the landscape over centuries. The sharp edges are softened now. The battle, if there was one, is long over. What’s left is stillness, peace, and the enduring echo of what once was.
There’s something deeply calming about this solitude.
It’s not a loneliness that aches, but it's as if this space is shared by an unknowable presence that soothes— the kind of isolation that invites you inward, into reflection.
Even though the stones have shifted, even though the titan has fallen, there’s still a sense of unity here.
A sense that everything still belongs.

About this photograph
Slightly more beautiful than the truth.
Fallen Titan was photographed at Lake Tahoe. We'd been outside through the sunset and the moonrise, and I stayed out long after, shooting long exposures in the small hours of the morning, somewhere around three a.m. The only light on the stones was moonlight, starlight, and the ambient skylight from the towns surrounding the lake.
That kind of light doesn't reveal a landscape. It hands it over slowly. With a long enough exposure, the water goes still, the air softens, and the stones start to look like what they actually are: old, weathered, settled into themselves.
The mountains in the background are painted. They weren't in the original capture. When I brought the image into postproduction, I wanted the depth that I felt the stones deserved — a horizon they could rest against. I painted the mountains by hand to give the scene the space the titan asked for.
I work with a lens and a camera. Tools made to document the world, but I use them to expand on what I find. My intent here wasn't to replicate the place. It was to render the feeling of standing with the stones in the dark, listening to the water hold still around them.
What you are feeling is real.

However, I have a wealth of knowledge about framing and can find the perfect frame for you if you’d like your presentation to include one.
There is a HUGE world of frame options available. I typically frame with Roma moulding and Larsen Juhl. About the prints: I produce my art on a premium substrate that is unparalleled in depth and luminosity. The material refracts light so that it travels laterally through the paper and reflects to the audience, creating a brilliant effect that many mistake for rear illumination.
Each print is then face-mounted to acrylic and sandwiched to a protective backing. The artwork is then framed or a recessed mount is added to the back to float on the wall.
I offer Tabacchino and other handmade framing options. Below are examples in 4” frames with and without liners. More arrangements are available. Liners are available in Black, White, Beige. See FRAMES in the menu above for more frames and liner options.
