One-of-a-Kind Photograph Captures the Heart of NYC

One-of-a-Kind Photograph Captures the Heart of NYC

Three months of planning and a little bit of B&E but I got the shot!

inquire about New York, New York. 2014

I grew up in New York and escaped at my first opportunity. However, as I traveled the world, first with the United States Air Force and then as a camera-wielding photo-guy, I never came across a city with the grandness of New York City. Each city I visited was weighed against the city of dreams. Measured by the Empire State Building and judged by the iron grid that is Manhattan. I am biased, I’m sure. If you are from here and have traveled, you know what I mean.

One of my rare visits home was accompanied by a plan to make something great. I spent weeks on vision boards, inspiration boards, and 3D Maps. Then I found that stereotypical photo of the Empire State Building seen through the legs of the Manhattan Bridge. I knew I wanted to do it better. Different. So I started looking for views of Freedom Tower through an archway using 3D google maps.

I still went and captured this iconic view from Dumbo in Brooklyn. I just found out that this view is going to be ruined soon! Click on the image to inquire about this Untiled Capture of NYC.

In order to capture this new and iconic photograph of New York City, I had to find a view in Brooklyn that looked through the bridge. That meant A LOT of time on Google Earth and then a lot of calls to building owners who flat out ignored me. So, when I was set on my plan, I had to go in the old fashion way and just make it happen. I was scared, but it was soooooo worth it.

I didn’t spend all my time in New York on this one photograph. Though, it is the highlight of my time there. Here are some other photographs I think are both unique and loveable. :)
